The Womens Blues make it a double Varsity win for Cambridge Hockey by beating Oxford 6-2 in Courchevel! Player of the match was Anne Widera, with goals scored by Anne, Jia Kim, and Katherine Hobart. Huge congratulations to all who played!!

The Light Blues win the 101st Varsity Match at Oxford Ice Rink!

Having been undefeated during the season, the Light Blues stepped on the ice both confident and focused with the pure will to take back home the King Edwards VII Cup! From the first face-off on, Cambridge dominated the Dark Blues team throughout the game there was no real doubt about which team will take home the trophy! Player of the game for Cambridge and MVP of the Varsity Match was Benjamin Proyer and team voted player of the match was Lucas Maddalena. Check out the Varsity article for a full match report here.
This victory also puts Cambridge on top of Division 1 (South) and qualifies the Light Blues for the National Championship final against Edinburgh Eagles Ice Hockey Club on Sunday 14/04.

The Cambridge Blues are ending the first half of the season with a stunning victory against the Oxford Dark Blues! This important win also puts the Light Blues on top of the table in Division 1 (South) of the BUIHA. They are now looking forward to their training camp in Zuoz in January to prepare for the most important game of the season: the Varsity game held in Oxford on March 2 (tbc) - stay tuned for that!
Player of the game for Cambridge was Matt Neville. For his spectacular saves he was also voted man of the match by the team. Honorable mention: Scott Partington for his celly of the year.
THE 100TH VARSITY
We are delighted to announce that the historic 100th Men’s Varsity will be held in the same place where it all started in 1885 – St. Moritz, Switzerland – on the 24th of March 2018! Since 1885, the world has seen many changes, but our powerful tradition lives on. Throughout history every player has contributed to our special community. As such, we’d like to invite all of our alumni to take part in the celebration of the oldest rivalry in hockey history. We plan to host an alumni Winter Classic-style match on the very same day as the Varsity Match. To register, please, follow the link below.

CAMBRIDGE VS. OXFORD: ALUMNI GAME
1st April, 2017, Toronto, CA -- The Cambridge and Oxford alumni battled it out in the 9th Annual Alumni game in Toronto. Although the victory didn't go to Cambridge this time, both sides showed a great competitive spirit in a game that has become a staple event for Canadian Oxbridge Ice Hockey alumni.

4th March 2017, Peterborough, UK -- In a hard fought battle, the Cambridge Blues prevail over their rivals for the third time in three years. After back-and-forth two periods ending in 4-3 score, the Cambridge Blues, fueled by their unrelenting supporters, surged past the Dark Blues and sealed the historic victory. The Varsity MVP was Light Blues' goaltender Daniel Orvomaa, player of the game was co-captain Spencer Brennan, player-voted MVP was the assistant captain Oscar Wilsby. Honorable mention to Cambridge co-captain Vaclav Beranek, who finished the night with four goals and an assist.
We would like to thank our fans and supporters who cheered us on at both ends of the ice and made the 99th Ice Hockey Varsity an unforgettable moment for us.

As we head to the Varsity game this Saturday, we are taking a look back at the road that the Cambridge Blues travelled in the 2016/17 season so far. Today, we start with the training camp in Zuoz, Switzerlad, as captured by our own Pat 'McGroin' Gut.

On Saturday 4th March the oldest rivalry in the history of ice hockey pays its biennial visit to Peterborough as the Cambridge Light Blues take on arch-rivals the Oxford Dark Blues in what is expected to be the biggest indoor fixture of the Oxbridge sporting calendar, and one of the biggest varsity fixtures on ice outside of North America.
This year’s edition will mark the 132nd anniversary of the Varsity Match between the two teams. The Peterborough rink is once again expected to reach capacity as crowds cheer on two of the top teams from Division 1 of the British Universities Ice Hockey Association as they go toe-to-toe and battle it out for the historic King Edward Cup.
Doors open at 8:00pm and the ceremonial puck drop will take place at 8:30pm. There will be a fully licensed bar overlooking the ice open throughout the game.
The afterparty (with queue jump and reduced price for Cambridge and Oxford fans) will take place at Life (Kuda) in Cambridge following the match.
Cambridge fans:
Tickets include coach transportation. Coaches will depart from Queens’ Back at 6.45pm SHARP (please be on time!). The coaches will head back to Cambridge straight after the game, so expect to be back in Cambridge at around 11pm.

The Cambridge Blues are the University’s men’s varsity squad. They compete in BUIHA Division 1 South (checking), which is the top tier for University ice hockey in Britain.
The season consists of a league format cup competition that runs from November until March. The Blues also enter Tier 1 of the Universities National Championships. The Blues squad trains on ice on Sunday evenings at Planet Ice in Peterborough, in addition to three weekly fitness sessions.
The Blues’ season is marked by two important highlights. The first is a trip to Zuoz, Switzerland, where they train up to four times a day and play matches against local teams on perfect outdoor ice at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz. The second is of course the annual varsity match against their arch-rival, the Oxford University Blues. This fiercely competed contest is steeped in history and has an intensity like no other.
