We are now one club!

The Men’s Blues, Women’s Blue and Huskies are proud and thrilled to announce that we have merged into a single club, under the historic name of Cambridge University Ice Hockey Club (CUIHC)!

To date, CUIHC has consisted of the Men’s Blues, and together with the Oxford University Ice Hockey Club is recognized as the longest ice hockey rivalry in the world. Founded in 1981, the Cambridge University Women’s Ice Hockey Club was a pioneer of women’s university ice hockey in the UK; it was one of only three all-women teams along with their Oxford counterparts. In recent years, the CUWIHC established a second mixed-gender development team -the Huskies.

The previous club names were understandably problematic as the CUWIHC had both male and female players while the CUIHC referred exclusively to the Men’s Blues. We are delighted to now be united as a club under the name of Cambridge University Ice Hockey Club.

The merging of the clubs consolidates efforts and resources to grow and promote ice hockey in Cambridge. This landmark change is beneficial for all teams, as it represents an important milestone in ensuring equality, inclusivity and diversity in sport and lays the foundation for a sustainable and successful future for Cambridge Ice Hockey.
