Eskies: Season 2015-16

By Ryan McGinley

It was another exciting season for the Cambridge Eskimos last year.  In addition to winning the Oxford Vikings annual varsity match, the Eskies also managed to win the Stahlpokal (Steel Cup) in Linz, Austria.  It was the last season for our good friend and captain Luc St Pierre - who moved to Finland.  In more serious news, we have officially taken on Slovak as our official team language.

The VM versus the Oxford Vikings was again a tight match, as it has been in recent years, but we managed to find the resolve to win against a Vikings team that had unrivalled heart and determination in the second and third periods.

Our annual trip to Linz in Austria was a total success this year with our second Stahlpokal (Steel Cup) victory in 3 years.  It was a great long weekend on the Danube, with the boys coming back with the first place trophy once again.

Luc St Pierre, a club veteran, Captaining both the Blues and Eskimos for many years has now left Cambridge for new pastures in Finland.  He is an outstanding hockey player and served the club brilliantly - he will be sorely missed in the coming seasons.  We wish him well retuning for a country where ice-hockey is the national sport.

We are now recruiting for this season, and we would welcome all of you to reach out to players past and present to bring their hockey kit to Cambridge this year and come play with us this coming season.

I look forward to seeing you all on the ice this Autumn.
